Cattle being walked in Needham

Howard Tisdale

From earliest times, local farmers kept cattle to meet family needs. Howard Tisdale, c. 1890, continued that tradition and walked his cows at the corner of Webster and May Streets. Note the kerosene street lamp, one of may placed in the town in 1883. These were replaced about ten years later by electric lights.
