RICHARD PATTON MELICK FOUNDATION
The Richard Patton Melick Foundation was started to recognize a community leader. But the context of that decision was intended to go beyond simply one time recognition of the individual named. It was to pay homage to a concept characterized by Dick Melick's life - an attitude and action translated into service: Willingness to help a neighbor without being asked...desire to be of community service without concern for reward...understanding that we the people are the government, and no democratic society survives without commitment...realization that citizens develop the quality of life in a community.
