ADULT BADMINTON

ADULT VOLLEYBALL
Thursdays, 8:00 - 10:00 PM
October 8, 1998 - May 27, 1999
No Program: 11/26, 12/24, 12/31

Fee: $20/season or $5/time
If requested, second net will be set up for
less competitive players.

*This program will be held from 8 - 10 PM during months

of December, January, and February.

Adult Basketball

Informal, recreational play for men and women.

Day/Time: Wednesdays 8:00-10:00 PM
Session: October 7, 1998 - May 19, 1999
Location: High School A Gym
Registration: At program
No Program: 11/11, 11/25, 12/23, 12/30

Fee: $60/season or $5/time until $60 is reached.

TENNIS BADGES

Badges are required for all public court use, from April 1 through October 31. Two nets will be left up at the Mills Field Tennis Courts over the winter so that tennis may be played during the winter. Please call (781)455-7521 for more information about badges.

Indoor Tennis

Needham residents may register for 50 minutes of tennis court time on wooden indoor court in the Newman School Gym. Groups register for a particular day and time for the entire season.

Time: 7 - 7:50 PM, 7:50 - 8:40 PM, 8:40 - 9:30 PM

Adult Golf Lessons

Geared to beginner and advanced beginner players.

Day/Time: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 PM
Session: September 16 - October 14, 1998
Location: Norwood Country Club
Age: Adults (17 and over)
Limit: 8/class (minimum of 4)

Fee: $100/participant

CHARLES RIVER WALKING CLUB

What is it?
How can I join?

The Deaconess-Glover Hospital, in collaboration with the Needham Park and Recreation Commission, has developed a regional Walking Club. In a recent survey, we found that over 75% of those surveyed had interest in joining a club that would offer the following services:

  • bi-monthly newsletter
  • opportunity to meet new people
  • walking clinics
  • incentives and awards
  • discounts at various retail establishments
  • health lectures and screenings

Adult Exercise Program

Toning and stretching from head to toe with individual needs accommodated. Twelve classes per session.
Day/Time: Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:00 AM - 12 Noon
Session One: September 28 - November 10, 1998 ??
Session Two: November 17, 1997 - January 12, 1998 ??
Location: Memorial Park Field House
Limit: 10 participants (minimum of 7)

Fee: $42/session
On Reg. Form: List Session One, Two, or both

Healthy Strides - National Walking Program
Sponsored by the California Prune Board and the National Recreation and Park Association, a free, individual walking program for all Needhamites.

Date: September 21 - October 30, 1998
Requirements: Fill in log charts and submit by October 30, 1998.
People walking 50+ miles will be eligible for a drawing for a free pair of walking shoes.
Sign Up: Pick up your log chart and information in the office beginning Tuesday, September 14, 1998.

Ultimate Scavenger Hunt

Save the date! The 1999 Ultimate Scavenger Hunt will be held on Saturday,

May 8. Up to ten teams compete for some serious (and not so serious!) prizes. Teams consist of six adults who pile into a limousine and look for outrageous artifacts! So grab your friends, relatives or neighbors and join the fun! Registration and other information will be listed in the 1999 Winter/Spring Brochure, which will be mailed to all residents in December.

Charles River ARC Programs

Ellie Bloom Olympics: Special athletes of all abilities and ages join together for a day of fun, challenge, and achievement on Saturday, September 20 at Memorial Field. FREE!! ??

Kid’s Break: A Saturday afternoon recreation program for disabled children, ages 3 - 14. Activities include music, arts and crafts, exercise, swimming and recreational sports.

Sibshops: A support group for children who have brothers or sisters with developmental disabilities.

The Sitter’s Program: A service providing trained students and others who are interested in spending time with children who have special needs.
