SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS
The following are non-profit, volunteer-run organizations providing sports programs for Needham youth. For information, please contact the people listed below:
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Bikers are welcome in the Town Forest. Follow the white rectangular trail markers which begin at the entrance off of Central Avenue.
Safety/Courtesy Tips: Wear a helmet; give right of way to pedestrians and skiers; stay on the trail - don't start new trails; avoid soft areas.
FIT TRAIL
Located at Ridge Hill Reservation (463 Charles River Street), the FIT-TRAIL is a 4,000 foot long course through the woods with 20 stations and 32 exercises. The FIT-TRAIL can be used when the Reservation is open. The Needham Lions Club provided the manpower and financial assistance to establish the FIT-TRAIL, which is located at the entrance to the Reservation, to your right.
FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN
Join Parent Talk, a family support network; a volunteer based, non-profit organization which brings parents together through community play groups, a lecture series, a monthly newsletter, family activities, and more! Call 444-5600.
SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS
Make a donation towards your favorite program. Your support helps a child attend a program he/she cannot afford or it purchases a special piece of equipment to be enjoyed by many. Donations can also be made in honor of someone else!
TRUST FUND FOR PARKS
Make a donation on your registration form, or write a separate check, in honor of your favorite park. All gifts will be placed in the Trust Fund for Parks, and will be used for park and playground improvements. Call (781)455-7521 for more details.
HOW TO RESERVE A FIELD OR PLAYGROUND/TOT LOT
Call or stop by the office. If the date you choose is available, a permit will be given to you, which must be signed. A small fee is charged for some field uses. Individuals may use playground areas at all times, but large groups should reserve space to avoid conflict with other groups.
LOST AND FOUND
Call (781)455-7521 if you have lost an article at a Park and Recreation field. Found articles should be dropped off at the Park and Recreation Office.
PLAYGROUND AREAS (TOT LOTS)
SPORTS KIT RENTAL
2 sports kits are available from the Park and Recreation Office for a rental fee of up to $20.00. CALL THE OFFICE TO RESERVE THE KIT. Kit can include: volleyball set, badminton, croquet, horseshoes, whiffle ball set, balls, kickballs, and frisbees.
